A portion of Plymouth Road has been closed after a fallen tree struck a vehicle and tore down wires in Whitpain Township.

First responders were dispatched to the scene at 12:52 p.m. on April 3 for an initial report of a vehicle accident. Arriving personnel found a tree had fallen onto a vehicle and taken down live electrical wires in the process.

No injuries have been reported.

Plymouth Road is currently closed between Morris Road and Lantern Lane, and the scene remains active as of 1:43 p.m. Wednesday. Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area.

Additional active incidents are also being reported across the Wissahickon area, as a line of storms with heavy winds and rain moves through the region. Those incidents include:

  • An electrical fire dispatch at Gwynedd View Road and Winding Drive in Lower Gwynedd at 1:30 p.m.
  • A road obstruction at Swedesford Road and School House Lane in Lower Gwynedd at 1:40 p.m.
  • A road obstruction at Ridge Pike and Alan Wood Road in Plymouth Township
  • An unknown incident at Penllyn Blue Bell Pike and Maple Hill Drive in Whitpain at 1:42 p.m.
  • A road obstruction at West Germantown Pike and Chemical Road in Plymouth Township at 1:24 p.m.
