Ambler Borough Council unanimously approved an ordinance to allow dogs in Ricciardi Park, following the successful completion of a six-month pilot program that ended April 15.

The motion was approved during Tuesday night’s council meeting, with the amended ordinance allowing dogs within the park – provided they are at least 50 feet away from playground equipment. The public safety committee previously recommended approval during the March council meeting, saying the pilot program was received positively and proved dogs could be brought to the park in a safe and responsible manner.

The motion amends the prior ordinance, which already allowed dogs in Ambler Borough Park.
