At our board meeting on Tuesday, April 16, the Whitpain Township Board of Supervisors appointed Eric M. Traub as our new township manager, replacing the retiring Roman M. Pronczak.
Traub, who is stepping down from his current position as the Chief Financial Officer for Lower Merion Township to take the township manager position in Whitpain, will start on April 29 as our Township Manager Designee, before officially taking over on June 5.
Pronczak, who has been Whitpain’s Township Manager since January 2011, announced his retirement in September 2023, subject to Whitpain finding his replacement. Accordingly, the township undertook an extensive search to find our next manager, and that search led to Traub — whoi comes to Whitpain with a wealth of professional and financial experience.
I am very excited to announce his hiring.
Whitpain’s almost 100-person professional staff has been led by Pronczak since January 2011. Pronczak joined Whitpain Township in 1996 — first as our township engineer until March 2006 and then as our assistant township manager until December 2010 — and has more than 28 years of municipal government experience. While my colleagues and I — as well as our predecessors — will have much more to say about Roman before he steps aside, it is fair to write that his lengthy tenure in Whitpain has been defined by his unmatched professionalism, unrivaled dedication, and steely calm demeanor. His deep care and understanding of all facets of local government rank him as Montgomery County’s best township manager, respected by all members of the Whitpain community — from our largest businesses to our smallest families.
As noted above, Traub comes to Whitpain from Lower Merion, where he has served as their CFO since May 2015. Prior to his service in Lower Merion, Traub was the finance director for East Norriton Township from November 2010 until May 2015.
Whitpain’s Board of Supervisors enthusiastically welcomes Mr. Traub and his family to our community.
Sincerely,
Scott M. Badami
Chairman, Whitpain Township Board of Supervisors
