The Wissahickon Valley Public Library invited creativity as youth services librarian Erin Mazzoni held the inaugural "Green Machines" event on Tuesday April 22, in celebration of Earth Day.

The event, aimed at all age groups, encouraged participants to transform recycled items into quirky robots, fostering environmental consciousness and imaginative play.

"I did this for kids to have fun and turn recycled materials into cool robots," Mazzoni said. "I really like when kids can use their own imagination and creativity."

To facilitate the creative process, Mazzoni rallied the library staff to collect recyclables and similar items in advance of the event. She also personally spraypainted bottles and paper towel rolls silver, enhancing their appeal as robotic components.
