Ambler Savings Bank held a celebration with its customers, the community and local government officials in honor of its 150th Anniversary on Wednesday, April 17. Over 120 guests were in attendance to honor the achievement, including several local government officials.
“I’m honored to share this incredible moment with you and present Ambler Savings Bank with a proclamation in recognition of your 150 years of service,” said state Sen. Maria Collett.
Others in attendance offered proclamations including Tom DiBello, Montgomery County Commissioner; Jeanne Sorg, Mayor of Ambler; Rafia Razzak, representing Melissa Cerrato, Pennsylvania House of Representatives; and Kevin Shivers, president of the Pennsylvania Association of Community Bankers.
“The Ambler Borough is thankful for the long-standing support of Ambler Savings Bank to the ongoing needs of the community,” said Sorg. “From the Main Street festivals to police and fire departments, we know we can count on their support.”
Ambler Savings Bank’s President and CEO Roger Zacharia made remarks, noting the reason he believes the bank has remained successful for so long.
Bob King, facilities manager of Ambler Savings Bank and Ambler Main Street president, delivered an address on the history. “This institution has always been a leader of the pack in the industry. It was the first association to be granted a state charter in Montgomery County in 1874 and in 1939 began to insure savings up to $5,000, ahead of the incorporation of the FDIC,” said King.
Ambler Savings Bank was chartered in 1874 to provide financing for local residents to purchase and build homes. Since before the town was named Ambler, the bank has served the community offering loans, deposit accounts and philanthropic support. The bank has grown to employ 60 people with four branches and offices in three retirement communities across Montgomery and Berks counties.
The bank offers a wide range of business and personal banking solutions, delivered with personalized service as well as the latest digital banking tools and remains independent under the governance of a cooperative Board of Trustees and is committed to serving the best interests of customers and the local community. Ambler Savings Bank supports local non-profit organizations, specifically in the areas of education, affordable housing, social services, and community development.
Ambler Savings Bank will continue the celebration through the year. More information can be found on their website at: www.AmblerSavingsBank.com/150.
