The North Penn Police Athletic League brought out bombast and emergency showcases for area citizens during the annual National Night Out event in Towamencin on Monday.

The North Penn High School parking lot was filled with lights, sounds, public safety education and fun for two hours, with food vendors like Funella’s Funnel Cake and Fruits of Our Labor Smoothies.

A JeffStat helicopter landing on site and the youth in attendance marveled at the machine.

Among the North Penn area police, fire and ambulance departments and Montgomery County service organizations represented at the event were Upper Gwynedd Fire Department, Hatfield Police Department, Lower Gwynedd Police, Towamencin Township public safety, the U.S. Coast Guard, Upper Gwynedd, North Wales, and Montgomery Township police departments, Lansdale Electric, North Penn Vol. Fire Co., Fairmount Fire Co., Montgomery County Dog Warden, and the State Game Commission.

North Penn PAL is a part of the North Penn YMCA’s Lansdale branch, formed to be a youth crime prevention program that utilizes educational, athletic, and recreational activities to create trust and understanding between police officers in the community and youth. All kids ages eight to 18 are invited to join the free program. For more information, stop by the Membership Office of the Lansdale branch for registration forms
