High school can be an intimidating space for new students, especially incoming freshman who are just adapting to their new surroundings. On Tuesday, Aug. 13, the Wissahickon School District aimed to ease some of those anxieties with the help of free Kona Ice.

A Class of 2026 “Ice Cream Meet & Greet” was hosted from 5 to 7 p.m. by traveling to spaces the freshmen may find more familiar: their own communities. The meet-and-greet crew went from Stony Creek Elementary School in Blue Bell, to the Ambler Borough Hall, and then to Penllyn Park in Lower Gwynedd Township to visit students in their own backyards. The teens were greeted in all three of the municipalities served by the Wissahickon High School.
