The Ambler Borough is seeking a committee member for its Planning Commission. Resumes are currently being taken by the borough in order to select a candidate to take the place of the current vacancy.
The planning commission includes nine residents who serve and are appointed by Borough Council.
“These dedicated volunteers with various backgrounds and insight are tasked with being the starting point for most development and changes in the Borough as the first step in the planning process,” said the Borough’s website.
The vacancy was noted in the August Borough Council Committee Meeting, as well.
“Resumes are being accepted for the planning commission vacancy,” said Council Member Lisa Auerbach, who represents Ward 2 and also provides the report for the Salary and Personnel (Human Relations Commission).
Elizabeth Wahl Kunzier, the Ambler Borough manager’s assistant, said that the vacancy was due to a person resigning. The man did not give a reason for his resignation, according to Kunzier.
“You can send a resume online or drop one off at Borough Hall, 131 Rosemary Ave.,” said Kunzier. “All backgrounds are welcome. The applicant just needs to live in the Borough.”
Any adult residents are welcome to apply for the role. The planning commission functions as a committee that must assist in the development of zoning and other ordinance choices at the direction of council.
“The planning commission works toward providing for the coordinated development of the Borough and the general welfare of its people,” said the site.
There is no set deadline for applications to be submitted. The remainder of the term includes the rest of 2024, and three more additional years.
Regular monthly meetings of the Planning Commission are held in Ambler Borough Meeting Hall on the fourth Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. Special meetings and date changes will be announced and advertised as scheduled.
Materials and an agenda for the meeting are posted the day prior to the meeting. All meeting minutes and agendas are posted to the Borough website under government-boards, committees, and planning commission.
