There is a new kid on the block in Blue Bell. Right along DeKalb Pike, in the same complex as Citrus Salon and Day Spa nestled in a new locally owned and operated business: Brews and Scoops.

As the name implies, the adorable boutique-style shop offers hot, specialty cups of coffee and tasty cool dishes of ice cream.

“Our ice cream is basically customizable,” said the shop’s owner, Anna Sajan. “Our customers can choose a size, their choice of flavors, and their mix-ins.”

The shop even offers options for vegans, with dairy-free “ice cream,” too, as well as a wide variety of mix-ins.

“Mix-ins can be fruit, cereals, candies, cookies,” said Sajan.

Sajan said she was excited to open her own business, having a new focus after finding herself with an “empty nest.”

“Both of my kids went off to college, and my hubby picked up golfing, leaving me with a lot of spare time,” she said.

She’s excited, she noted, to get to know those in and around Whitpain Township.

“I hope this business becomes a part of the Blue Bell community,” said Sajan. “And families can come and enjoy a nice cup of espresso or a swirled ice cream mix.”

The new shop owner said that there are plenty of options to make each drink or dish unique. From specialty drink options to what she calls “delicious” ice cream, there is a bit of something for every taste.

Supporting local is important to Sajan, and she said she also practices what she preaches.

“We partnered with local businesses for our ice cream and espressos,” said Sajan. “Our espresso is from Golden Valley Farms Coffee Roasters in West Chester. It is organic, and they have some of the best-tasting flavors.”

The ice cream, which is also from a local distributor, is also backing local business.

“I am biased, but our chocolate really is yummy,” said Sajan.

Brews and Scoops opened its doors on Aug. 7. The shop is open for your morning fix Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., and again for afternoon pick-me-ups 4:30 to 8 p.m. On Saturdays, you can find them in from noon to 9 p.m. (Hours are possibly expanding in the near future!)

“We are excited to be here, and really look forward to serving this community,” said Sajan.
