The Malvern Retreat House Fundraiser will be held on Monday, Aug. 26 at 11 a.m. at the Cedarbrook Country Club, in Blue Bell. A portion of the proceeds from the event will go to the Malvern Cares Program, geared at assisting needy individuals and families with St. John’s Hospice, Bethesda Project, and Mercy Hospice. On Wednesday, Aug. 28 at both 4 and 7 p.m., you can take a step back in time and view “Notorious,” the 1946 Alfred Hitchcock espionage thriller staring Cary Grant, Ingrid Bergman, and Claude Rains at The Ambler Theater, 108 E. Butler Ave., Ambler. This classic black and white flick runs one hour and 42 minutes, complete with Nazi spies, a post-war Brazil, and talented acting. For more information, call 215-345-7855. Students and families of Shady Grove Elementary School are invited to attend a Water Ice Social on Wednesday, Aug. 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. under the Shady Grove Overhang. Wissahickon School District will close its schools on both Friday, Aug. 30 and Monday, Sept. 2 for the Labor Day Weekend holiday. There will be no classes for students or staff for the long weekend and the unofficial end of summer.
Friday, Aug. 30 at 5 p.m., Well Crafted Ambler, located at Ambler Yards, 300 Brookside Ave., Building 19 in Ambler, will host the live music of Mark Margolies.
