Since their inception, the pair of events have brought in over $600,000 to benefit local services in and around the township.
The Upper Dublin Township Board of Commissioners took time out during the August public meeting to celebrate.
“I’m pleased to highlight two special Upper Dublin events organized by Upper Dublin Township and the Upper Dublin Education Foundation,” said Board President and Ward 4 Commissioner Ira S. Tackel.
The Winning Cards Casino Night was hosted in the township on March 16 at the Manor House at the Commonwealth.
“This new location worked out very well for us,” said Tackel. “The attendees enjoyed playing casino-style games, great food, and even better company.”
But that wasn’t the only evening the Commissioners were celebrating in that meeting.
“On May 19, the Upper Dublin Parks and Recreation staff coordinated the 12th annual Upper Dublin Triathlon Race that saw 453 registrations,” said Tackel. “That is the highest total to-date.”
The popular event was made possible by donations and corporate sponsorship.
“We’d like to thank our title sponsor, Lulu Country Club for their generous support,” said Tackel. “As we do every year for the race, we received great volunteer support with over 70-plus coming out on race day.”
The Board of Commissioners also thanked the Upper Dublin Township staff, the Upper Dublin School District staff, Upper Dublin Education Foundation board and volunteers, the Upper Dublin Police Department, Upper Dublin Fire Police, Ambler Ambulance, the Upper Dublin High School football team, the Upper Dublin Aquatic Club, and “all other attendees and volunteers who helped make the day a success,” said Tackel.
The events have proven time and time again to be a very successful fundraising opportunity for the township.
“Since the inception of these two events, over $600,000 has been raised and distributed to organizations in the immediate community and the region,” said Tackel. “
