It seems as though each and every community in Eastern Montgomery County has its own way to welcome in the holiday season. From tree lightings to holiday parades, a wide variety of events are coming to the area very soon.

No matter where you live, you can find plenty of ways to get into the holiday spirit with live, and largely free, happenings in your local community. Check out our round-up of exciting chances here.

Hatboro

The annual Hatboro Tree Lighting will take place on Friday, Dec. 6 at 5 p.m. in front of the Union Library, 243 S. York Road in Hatboro. For more information, call 215-672-1420. Santa will join in the fun around 6:15 p.m., and guests of all ages are invited.

Horsham

On Tuesday, Dec. 10, the Horsham Township Police Department will hold its 25th annual Project Blue Light tree lighting to honor those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Along with over 1,000 blue lights on the tree, 29 white lights representing each of the Montgomery County Police Officers who’ve paid the ultimate price to protect and serve our communities. Ambler

The Ambler Main Street Holiday Parade will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7 starting at 1 p.m. Marching down Butler Avenue, bands, floats, Mummers, and of course Santa, will be bringing the festive feeling of the holidays to all in attendance. Ardsley (Glenside)

The Ardsley Community Association will host the Ardsley Christmas Tree Lighting on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 6 p.m., at 2828 Spear Ave., in Glenside, the Ardsley Community Center.

Jenkintown

The Jenkintown Borough will host its 150th year celebration on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 11 a.m. with a milestone ceremony. With a time capsule, essay contest, and look back at the borough’s history, the celebration is open to the public free of charge. The celebration will be in the borough’s town center, with free hot chocolate, refreshments, and live music.

Oreland

On Thursday, Dec. 5 from 6 to 8 p.m., the community is welcome to attend Orland’s second annual Christmas Tree Lighting event at Gigi’s Corner, located at 12 Allison Road in Oreland. Santa will be stopping by at 6:45 p.m., while complimentary hot chocolate will be served. A limited menu of snacks or dinner items will be available for purchase. Lafayette Hill

On Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m., the annual tree lighting will be held at 437 Ridge Pike in Lafayette Hill. The night will be hosted by the St. Philip Neri Women’s Guild and is open to the public. There will be caroling in the main entrance of the church. Complimentary hot chocolate, coffee, and sweets will be served. For more information, call 267-358-8015.
