The Wissahickon region has plenty to be thankful for this holiday season, including some amazing athletes within its ranks both past and present. Some are even recognized for their skills on a national level. Hamilton College recently highlighted one such star, a graduate of Germantown Academy.
Alexander Badami, who is to graduate from Hamilton in 2026, was recently recognized along with two classmates for his performance in the school’s cross-country team. The U.S. Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) highlighted the athletes in a November release as all three were named to the all-region honorees for the 2024 NCAA Division III cross-country season.
To be considered for the all-region distinction, races must finish in the top 35 at one of the 10 regional sites and be a member of the USTFCCCA. Badami, of Blue Bell, along with his two teammates, Jack Quinn and Edward Trenk, both of Massachusetts, collected the honors for the first time. Badami was a top finisher in the NCAA Niagara Regional Championships held at Fredonia State University’s Cross-Country Course, placing 13 out of 167 finishers with an 8K time of 25:29.4. Quinn finished at 32nd place, with Trenk in 33rd.
Badami went on to compete in the NCAA cross-country championships at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross-Country Course at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center in Terre Haute, Indiana on Nov. 23. The third-year Junior racer ran 26:19.0, placing him at 257 among the 294 finishers.
