The local historical society will not only host its annual holiday party but will also use the occasion to collect food for those in need.
The Wissahickon Valley Historical Society (WVHS) will hold a pot-luck holiday party on Monday, Dec. 9 at 6:30 p.m. Due-paying members will have no cost for the party, while others may attend at a cost of $15 per person.
Annual dues are $25 per individual or $35 per couple, and for a warm meal and holiday socialization, that’s a pretty great deal you can enjoy year-round. To become a member, simply click here.
Guests are asked to bring along an appetizer, side dish, or dessert (along with the necessary serving utensils) to the dinner. The WVHS will provide ham, beverages, and wine samples. Those in attendance are welcome to BYOB, as well.
Guests should respond by the end of day today (Thursday, Dec. 5) if they plan to attend. Email info@wvalleyhs.org to RSVP. Please include the number of guests and what your food contribution will be.
The spiral-cut ham is a “change of pace from last year,” according to the WVHS’s The Valley Crier newsletter. RSVPs will help the organization plan ahead for the ham need, in addition to coordinating the menu.
During the festivities, the WVHS is also asking those in attendance to bring along a bit more food than just the potluck. The society is also collecting donations for the Mattie N. Dixon Community Cupboard. Any nonperishable item is welcomed, though a “wish list” is maintained by the nonprofit online here.
The Mattie N. Dixon Community Cupboard, located at 150 N. Main St., in Ambler. The organization, which was founded by a longtime resident of Ambler, has helped to feed the local population since 1973.
The potluck dinner will be held on Monday, Dec. 9 at the WVHS headquarters, 799 W. Skippack Pike, in Blue Bell. For more information, call 215-646-6541 or email info@wvalleyhs.org.
