A Philadelphia man and former medical assistant at an Abington Township urgent care facility will face up to a decade in prison as part of a plea bargain after admitting to having indecent contact with or invading the privacy of around one dozen women, conducting unauthorized vaginal or breast exams for his sexual gratification, said an article in The Reporter.

Carl Hessler Jr. reported that Ramon Garcia, 33, of the 6100 block of Elmhurst Terrace in Philadelphia, pleaded guilty in a Montgomery County Court Dec. 5 to multiple charges of aggravated indecent assault, attempted aggravated indecent assault, invasion of privacy and attempted invasion of privacy, indecent assault, and performing actions under false pretenses in connection with his unauthorized work while at Carbon Health Urgent Care in the Jenkintown section of Abington Township, as well as one in the Dresher section of Upper Dublin Township. The incidents occurred between November 2023 and March 2024, according to the report.

According to Hessler’s article, Garcia used his position to fraudulently access female patients, conducting exams he was not qualified nor able to perform, including observing a woman provide a urine sample, conducting breast exams, and attempting a pelvic exam. Garcia also had made multiple attempts to provide the women his phone number or had asked the women on dates, according to the report.

Garcia is to serve five to ten years in prison, as well as serve a five-year probation following his sentence. He will begin his sentence following an evaluation by the Pennsylvania Sexual Offenders Assessment Board, to determine if he will meet criteria to be classified as a sexually violent predator, said Hessler.

Abington Police were commended by the prosecutor for their hard work investigating the case.
