One Whitpain Township man is facing charges after police found him driving under the influence in Limerick Township, blocking traffic on Route 422.
According to a public information release report from the Pennsylvania State Police, Skippack patrol unit, said that on Friday, Dec. 6, around 12:38 p.m., the PSP discovered a disabled along Route 422 eastbound in the vicinity of the Limerick exit.
Peter Lacey, 66, of Blue Bell, was identified as the owner of a 2001 Dodge Chrysler Ram 1500 “Promaster” vehicle, which callers told police was blocking the right lane of travel. The disabled truck was found as described by callers, police said.
Police said that Lacey was instructed to move his truck into the shoulder, which troopers assisted him in doing. According to the release, upon interviewing Lacey, police learned that he was driving with a revoked license. Police added that the man “exhibited signs of impairment,” so was subsequently arrested for habitual offender status and for DUI. The release was described as a “DUI on view drugs,” as its nature of the incident.
According to the release, Lacey had “transient residential status,” and 38 pages of outstanding traffic warrants. Police said they transported Lacey to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility after processing him for arraignment.
Lacey is facing charges of habitual offenders, a DUI with a controlled substance, driving while operating privileges suspended, and careless driving, according to court documents. He is held in county jail, unable to post a $77 monetary bail. He is due for a preliminary hearing on Dec. 16 at 10 a.m. before Magisterial District Judge Richard H. Welsh.
