The accident in Whitpain Township has roads closed in the vicinity of Butler Avenue and Skippack Pike/Route 73
An accident in Whitpain Township Tuesday has resulted in a vehicle striking three pedestrians in the area of Phil’s Tavern on Butler Pike.
According to county dispatch, a call was received around 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31 for the address of 931 W. Butler Pike in Whitpain Township, which is the location of Phil’s Tavern in Blue Bell. Early reports stated that a vehicle hit three people. The vehicle remained on location after striking the individuals, witnesses stated.
Witnesses at the scene also said that one of the victims was “semi-alert,” but that another was bleeding. One pedestrian was transported for their injuries with a level one trauma, meaning that injuries are life-threatening.
Responding to the scene were units from Whitpain Township Police, the Centre Square Fire Company, its fire police, the Community Ambulance Association of Ambler, and the Second Alarmers Rescue Squad among other first responders.
Traffic in the area of West Butler Avenue and East Skippack Pike (Route 73) in Blue Bell is slowed at this time, as an investigation is conducted. Drivers are asked to avoid the area if possible.
