A single-vehicle crash forced the closure of a portion of Bethlehem Pike in Lower Gwynedd Monday afternoon.

Police were dispatched to the scene near the intersection with Fairland Drive at 4:47 p.m. for a report of a vehicle fire. A Chevy pickup truck left the roadway and struck some bushes and a tree before catching fire, according to reports from the scene.

A second dispatch was made to the same address a short time later indicating the driver had suffered a diabetic emergency.

The vehicle sustained moderate front-end damage as a result of the crash, and Bethlehem Pike was closed at the Route 309 exit as crews worked to clear the scene.

The driver’s current condition is unknown.
