Whitpain Township recently said farewell to its long-time fire marshal, Dave Camarda, who retired after 22 years of service. He was given a traditional “last ride,” according to township communications, where around 40 fire apparatus escorted him to the Township Building. Once there, the fire marshal provided his official final sign-off from the Montgomery County radio system.
Camarda served in many positions in and around Whitpain throughout his career. He began his journey over 40 years ago, starting out with the King of Prussia Volunteer Fire Company in the 1970s. He also served as deputy fire marshal for Upper Merion Township for 11 years, as a firefighter and communications supervisor for Norristown Fire Department, and a crewman and EMT with Radnor Township Fire Company.
Even in his retirement, Camarda will continue to serve his community as he says he will continue to teach and consult with Emergency Management and Fire and Rescue services.
The Whitpain Township Board of Supervisors sent best wishes to the departing fire marshal, thanking him for years of dedication.
“What I can tell you is that Dave has done all these things to selflessly serve the people of our community for the last 22 years,” said Supervisor and Chairman Scott Badami. “Although, by their very nature fire marshals have a very tough exterior given the challenges of their work, there’s no one that cared more or worked harder to protect our residents than Dave Camarda.”
The supervisors send final farewells to Camarda at a July 2 Work Session.
“On behalf of my fellow supervisors, the public and our township staff, I’d like to publicly acknowledge Dave for his decades of dedication,” said Badami. “We wish him nothing but the best as he starts this next chapter of his life.”
