Ambler police said a teen living in an Ambler group home was illegally in possession of a gun.
Ambler Borough Police were called to the Carson Valley group home located in the 200 block of Chestnut Street after the house supervisor on July 16 called 911 after finding a firearm in a resident’s bedroom during her room checks.
Upon checking the bedroom of Anthony Mark Everett, 18, originally of Elkins Park, Pa., the home's supervisor told police she’d discovered a black firearm on Everett’s bed. The supervisor said, according to police reports, that the gun was laying out in the open and was not hidden nor covered.
Ambler police said that they found the gun, a black, 1911 style .45 caliber black handgun manufactured by ATP on the bed. It was loaded, according to police, with one bullet in the chamber, and 12 .45 caliber bullets in the magazine.
Police reported that they continued a search of the room and found an additional silver and black .40 caliber Springfield XD magazine, which was empty, as well as Everett’s birth certificate and social security card. As Everett’s criminal history includes several prior arrests, including being an adjudicated delinquent for robbery and receiving stolen property, he is not permitted to own or possess a firearm. Due to his age, Everett is also not legally able to buy or possess a handgun.
Everett is being held on $50,000 cash bail, awaiting a preliminary hearing slated for Aug. 2 for the second-degree felony of possession of a prohibited firearm.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
