An Upper Dublin man is facing charges after he allegedly threatened a neighbor and flashed his buttocks during an altercation last week in Upper Dublin Township.

Christopher Vangoethem, 41, has been charged with misdemeanor counts of terroristic threats and open lewdness, along with a summary count of harassment, in connection with the June 5 incident. He is currently free on $10,000 unsecured bail.

Police were dispatched to the 500 block of Meadowbrook Avenue just before 12:30 p.m. for a report of a disturbance. Arriving personnel spoke with a neighbor, who said Vangoethem got in his face and threatened him while they were both outside, according to the criminal complaint.

As police were speaking with the neighbor, Vangoethem came out of his apartment in an “extremely agitated” state, yelling “incomprehensible things” with his fists clenched, police said. Vangoethem was able to calm down, at which point he claimed that he had gone outside to get his mail when his neighbor began to harass him, the report states.

Vangoethem told police he has had an ongoing issue with the neighbor, and he’s “going to have to take things into his own hands” since police wouldn’t do anything about it, according to the complaint.

Investigators said they reviewed surveillance and cell phone recordings of the incident, which allegedly showed Vangoethem going to his mailbox and then yelling in the direction of the neighbor. He then walked over and got into the face of his neighbor and raised his first, the report states.

Recordings of the altercation showed Vangoethem said “I’m going to rip your f—king head off,” and then flashed his buttocks while walking back to his apartment, according to charging documents.

Court records show Vangoethem was arraigned on the charges during the afternoon of June 7, and his next court appearance is a preliminary hearing on June 14 at 10 a.m. in front of Magisterial District Judge Douglas Lavenberg.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using court records and the affidavit of probable cause.
