As of May 20, the Upper Dublin School District is seeking someone to fill the role of Director of Communications, a newly-created position at the district. During its May meeting, the Board of Directors for the district approved the position description and advertisement of the role.
The motion was made by Alima Redding, and it was second by Jennifer Iannitti during the board of directors’ legislative meeting. It passed unanimously by all members of the board, each agreeing to advertise the new position.
With the goal to “continue to build capacity to recruit and retain the most highly qualified and diverse staff possible,” the Personnel Committee recommended this action May 20. The role is a newly created position which was not previously included in past years.
Reporting directly to the Superintendent, the Director of Communications is intended to work closely with the superintendent and other members of the administration to “proactively and transparently communicate district information to students, community, and stakeholders, on behalf of the District,” according to the posted job description.
As part of the role, the audio-visual support and production specialist will report to the newly appointed Director of Communications. Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree with a major in public relations, journalism, or similar experience within education, as well as experience in a communications, journalism, public relations, advertising, or similar field.
Potential hires will be required to have current Act 34, Act 114, and Act 151 clearances, a school health form (which includes a physical and tuberculosis test), as well as a PDE Form 6004 with Act 168 disclosure forms.
