Making the event even more special in 2024 is that just last week, Reese was notified he was selected for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, winning the Pete Rozelle Radio-Television Award.
For the seventh consecutive year, Philadelphia Eagles radio play by play voice Merrill Reese chaired the Whitpain Golf Classic, raising thousands of dollars for both the Whitpain Police Association and our Stoney Creek Day Camp.
The 2024 event, held on June 17 at Blue Bell Country Club, attracted a full field of 130 golfers and even more for dinner after golf.
Reese, who is in his 47th consecutive year as the radio voice of the Eagles, made clear he wants to continue to broadcast NFL games for many more years. Reese also noted he would continue to chair the Whitpain event for as long as the township will have him.
Making the event even more special in 2024 is that just last week, Reese was notified he was selected for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, winning the Pete Rozelle Radio-Television Award.
While the Hall of Fame is an exceptional accomplishment, Reese made clear he is more proud of his 46 year marriage to his wife Cindy, who joined our event for dinner. Indeed, Merrill and Cindy celebrated their anniversary at the Whitpain event. Reese also said while this Eagles team has the most talent in the NFC, as always, injuries will play a big part in determining how successful the team is in 2024.
In response to a question, Reese stated the best Eagles player since he started with the team in 1977 was Reggie White. The next best player, according to Reese, was Brian Dawkins. Both White and Dawkins, of course, are members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. And so now is Reese.
