A vehicle fire along the northbound lanes of Route 309 caused traffic delays in Upper Dublin Tuesday afternoon.

Crews were dispatched to the scene just north of the Fort Washington interchange at 4:31 p.m. Arriving personnel encountered a dark-colored Ford Focus that had caught fire, with reports from the scene indicating the fire was contained to the interior of the vehicle, as the windows and seats of the vehicle were charred and the rest of the interior showed fire heavy damage.

Firefighters from Fort Washington Fire Company were able to quickly place the blaze under control, and no injuries were reported.

Northbound traffic was reduced to one lane just before rush hour as first responders worked to clear the scene.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
