An unidentified male was hospitalized Tuesday night after being struck by a vehicle outside of The Phil’s Tavern on Butler Pike in Blue Bell.
An unidentified male was hospitalized Tuesday night after being struck by a vehicle outside of The Phil’s Tavern on Butler Pike in Blue Bell.
Police were dispatched to the 900 block of Butler Pike at 8:08 p.m. on March 26 for a report of a vehicle accident involving a pedestrian struck. Arriving personnel located a red Mercury Montego with a shattered windshield and a man suffering from a bleeding head wound.
Several employees from the tavern told Wissahickon Now they heard a commotion and screaming outside, then rendered aid to the man once they saw him lying in the street. The man was transported from the scene via ambulance to Abington Memorial Hospital in serious condition, according to police.
Butler Pike was closed between Skippack Pike and Splitrail Lane as a result of the crash, reopening approximately one hour later as crews cleared the scene. Responding units included Whitemarsh Township Police, Whitpain Township Police, Whitemarsh Ambulance, Ambler Ambulance, area fire police, and other agencies.
The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.
