A woman who was ejected from her vehicle during a Friday morning crash on Route 309 in Lower Gwynedd Township has died, Wissahickon Now has confirmed.

The crash occurred just after 11:30 a.m. on May 3, with Pennsylvania State Police being dispatched to the scene near the intersection with Norristown Road for a report of a vehicle accident with injuries along the northbound lanes of the roadway. Sources told Wissahickon Now that a woman was ejected from her vehicle, and footage from PennDOT traffic cameras showed an overturned vehicle on the right shoulder of the road and what was initially believed to be emergency medical personnel performing CPR on the woman.

It was later determined that a pair of Good Samaritans, including a nurse and doctor, had stopped to render aid and perform CPR until emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene.

The woman was transported from the scene via ambulance in critical condition and was later pronounced dead, according to corroborating sources.

The cause of the crash remains unknown, and it’s unclear if anyone else was injured in the crash. Wissahickon Now has reached out to the Pennsylvania State Police for more information but has not yet received a response.

The northbound lanes of Route 309 were closed at Norristown Road for several hours as first responders conducted their investigation and cleared the scene. Responding units included Pennsylvania State Police, Lower Gwynedd Police, Wissahickon Fire Company, Ambler Ambulance, and VMSC Emergency Medical Services.

The incident was one in a series of fatal crashes that have occurred recently in the Wissahickon and North Penn areas. Other crashes include:

• A 71-year-old woman was killed in a crash on Bethlehem Pike Saturday afternoon.

• Two people were killed, including a woman from Ambler, in a crash on the 202 Parkway in Montgomery Township on April 29.

• A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle outside of The Phil’s Tavern at Skippack Pike and Butler Avenue.
