A person has died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash that occurred Saturday evening along the 100 block of Skippack Pike in Whitemarsh Township.
A person has died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash that occurred Saturday evening along the 100 block of Skippack Pike in Whitemarsh Township.
Police were dispatched to the scene near the intersection with Butler Pike at 5:56 p.m. on May 4 for a report of a multi-vehicle crash with injuries and rescue. The crash involved a 2009 Toyota Corolla and a 200 Buick LeSabre, according to police.
One occupant was described as trapped in their vehicle and suffering from cardiac arrest. They were rescued by first responders and transported to an area hospital where they were later pronounced dead, police said. Two other people were injured in the crash and transported to area hospitals for treatment, according to Whitemarsh Township Police Chief Christopher Ward.
The cause of the crash is currently under investigation by Whitemarsh Police and the Montgomery County Detective Bureau.
Skippack Pike was closed between Sheaff Lane and Butler Pike for a prolonged period as crews worked to process the scene. The road reopened at approximately 10 p.m., police said.
Whitemarsh Police were assisted at the scene by units from Whitemarsh Ambulance, Ambler Ambulance, Second Alarmer’s, Flourtown Fire Company, Centre Square Fire Company, Spring Mill Fire Company, Whitpain Township Police, and other area agencies.

Saturday’s fatal crash on Skippack Pike was one of several recent crashes across the Wissahickon and North Penn regions. It was also near the intersection where a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle outside of The Phils Tavern six weeks ago.
