A tavern bearing the namesake of Ambler Borough is preparing to open at 47 E. Butler Avenue, according to Instagram and signage at the business.

The Mary Ambler is being promoted as “a local tavern.” It will open at the former Melody’s Grillhouse location.

Renowned Chef Chad Rosenthal, who used to run now-shuttered The Lucky Well restaurant and bar, is behind The Mary Ambler coming to the borough, per reports.

Mary Johnson Ambler is famous for organizing the rescue of survivors in The Great Train Wreck of 1856 in Whitemarsh Township, Pa. Twenty years after her death in 1868, the village of Wissahickon changed its name to Ambler in her honor.
