The traffic around the area of Lower Gwynedd Township’s municipal building at 1130 N. Bethlehem Pike, Spring House, on Saturday morning will be heavier than usual, due to a free resident-only community recycling event, police announced Thursday on Crimewatch.

The annual E-Waste Recycling Day & Paper Shredding event is a partnership between the township and SAMR Inc. and Richter Mobile Shredding, according to the township. It will run from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the municipal building parking lot.

Since the event is for Lower Gwynedd Township residents only, proof of residency is required to access the site, per the township. No one will be allowed onto the site early and no parking or entering the parking lot will be allowed before the 8 a.m. start time.

People can bring anything paper and electronics (anything with a plug or batter) to be recycled for free.

However, excessive amounts of paper or electronics may be turned away at the township’s discretion, per the event flyer.

Acceptable items, aside from paper, include laptops, computers, fax machines, telecommunication equipment, Christmas lights and the like.

Residents may not exit their vehicles. All recyclable items must be placed in a trunk, pickup truck bed, or small trailer.

Employees will remove items from the vehicles when arriving on site, and items will only be accepted during event hours.

Items are not allowed to be delivered before or after the event.
