Two people were injured Thursday morning in a multi-vehicle crash on Flourtown Road in Whitemarsh Township.

The crash occurred at 8:16 a.m. near the intersection with Woodbine Way and involved a red sedan and a triaxle dump truck. One occupant of the sedan became trapped in their vehicle and required rescue, according to reports from the scene.

Dispatch recordings indicate two people were transported from the scene via ambulance: one with serious injuries to Abington Hospital, and the other with unknown injuries to Bryn Mawr Hospital.

Initial reports indicated that the truck had struck a building, however those were determined to be unfounded. The truck did breach a fence at the corner of the intersection, however neither vehicle struck the home.

Flourtown Road was closed between Woodbine Way and Colonial Drive for a little over two hours as crews worked to process and clear the scene. First responders also had to clean up 50 gallons of oil that leaked onto the roadway from the truck.

The scene was cleared at 10:27 a.m.

Whitemarsh Police were assisted at the scene by units from Spring Mill Fire Company, Barren Hill Fire Company, Whitemarsh Ambulance, Ambler Ambulance, and other area first response agencies.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
