Two people were rescued on Tuesday following a pair of unrelated crashes near Whitehall Road in Worcester Township.

The first crash occurred at 2:45 p.m. at the intersection of Bean and Whitehall roads and involved two vehicles — a black Mercedes coupe and a tan Nissan Altima. Both vehicles sustained front-end damage, with the Nissan coming to rest on the side of Whitehall Road and the Mercedes striking the corner of a porch along the 2500 block of Bean Road.

The driver of the Mercedes, identified by county dispatch as a 75-year-old female, was trapped in her vehicle due to a small tree preventing the driver’s side door from opening. Crews worked to free the woman from her vehicle, and she was treated on scene by emergency medical personnel for minor injuries.

Whitehall Road was closed between Skippack Pike and Township Line Road for about an hour due to the crash.

A second crash occurred at nearly the same location at 8:16 p.m., with emergency responders being dispatched to a single-vehicle accident with rescue on Whitehall Road near Windstorm Way. Arriving personnel found an overturned Volkswagen sedan with a female driver trapped inside and a passenger suffering from undescribed injuries.

Radio dispatch indicated the driver was trapped by her seatbelt and was uninjured. The passenger was transported from the scene to Paoli Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.

The causes of both crashes are under investigation.
