The Wissahickon Valley Public Library wrapped up their most recent “Read to a Dog” series on Saturday, providing children one last chance to spend time reading with therapy dogs ahead of summer break.

The series is held on the third Saturday of each month from October through May at the Ambler Branch on Race Street. Kids get to spend an hour with pups, provided by Nor’Wester Therapy Dogs, with each child having a 10-minute window to read their favorite book with their canine friends.

The event is organized by Youth Services Librarian Delia Tash, who said the event serves “to help kids practice their reading skills in a safe environment where they won’t feel judged.” The library provides a selection of books for each event, though kids are also able to bring their own book to the event.
