Wissahickon’s version of Battle Bots will be taking to the stage tomorrow morning, and the public is invited to come check it out. The Wissahickon Robotics Team will host Ramp Riot on Saturday, Nov. 2 with doors opening at 8 a.m.
Combining the lessons in “STEM,” which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, students far and wide were welcomed to this massive event. More than 34 teams will bring forward their best of bots, hailing from four different states. Called Wissahickon’s “biggest robotic event,” the day has excitement for all ages.
Now in its 24th year, Team 314 of Wissahickon is proud of its growth. Starting in 2000 with just eight teams, the event now draws over 2,000 spectators who attend annually to watch the battle arena-style competition.
Beyond the focused battle of the bots, the event also features seminars and informational sessions. The team members attending also find time to share information with one another.
Guests will be able to partake in face painting, a live local radio station broadcast, robot driving zones, and even a special visit by the Philly Phanatic.
The Ramp Riot will be held at Wissahickon High School’s gymnasium, 521 Houston Road in Ambler. The day is sponsored by First Mid-Atlantic, Denny Electric Supply, and FRC Team 341 Miss Daisy.
