It is tough to make the holidays bright when money is tight. And the Lower Gwynedd Township Police Department wanted to do its part in making more smiles possible by hosting
On Saturday, Nov. 2 , from 1 to 3 p.m., the Lower Gwynedd Township Police Department partnered with the Spring House GIANT Food Store, located at 1121 N. Bethlehem Pike in Spring House, to collect non-perishable food supplies to help those in need. The food collected will be taken to the Mattie Dixon Food Cupboard.
Area shoppers and local residents were asked to bring along items with them, or shop while in Giant, for non-perishable food items to donate upon exiting the store. Suggested donations often requested include simple grocery items, such as breakfast bars, cake mix, coffee, cookies, cracker, granola bars, mayonnaise, pasta, mustard, ramen, sides, tea, all-purpose cleaners, dish soap, cat food, and laundry detergent.
Mattie N. Dixon’s Community Cupboard is an Ambler-based food pantry supporting those in need throughout the area. The nonprofit has been assisting those that fall below the 150% of the federal poverty guidelines since 1973.
