The Wissahickon Ramp Riot, hosted by the high school’s robotics team, went off without a hitch on Saturday, Nov. 2. Running from 8 a.m. sign-ups, to the finale around 5 p.m., the day was jam-packed with robot battles, educational sessions, and of course a lot of fun.

As previewed by Wissahickon Now here, this event focuses on streamlining the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) skillsets area students learn in the classroom, and combining them with the fun and excitement of real, moving robots. More than 34 teams came into the arena to test the merit of their machines.

Dubbed the area’s “biggest robotic event,” those of all ages came out to watch the fun. Now in the program’s 24th year, this annual celebration of both entertainment and learning has brought in crowds of over 2,000 guests. With a start of just eight teams competing in short battles, the event has certainly grown in its over two decades of growth.
