A man who left his vehicle in the roadway, later landing it in a ditch, during a crash in Whitemarsh Township was sentenced in Montgomery County Courts on Oct. 31.

According to an article in The Reporter, William G. Powell, 54, of the 2300 block of West Clearfield Street, in Philadelphia, was convicted in a non-jury case last week for charges of a person not to possess a firearm, carrying a firearm without a license, driving under the influence of alcohol general impairment, and careless driving in connection with a June 2023 incident on Ridge Pike in Whitemarsh Township.

The report, by Carl Hessler Jr., published on Nov. 1, noted that sentencing was deferred until court officials could complete a background investigation report about Powell, who also must undergo drug and alcohol evaluations.

Powell is to remain free on bail pending a sentencing hearing in December.
