The Wissahickon Fire Company has been serving the community since 1891. But, today, they are mourning the loss of one of their own.
The company’s Facebook post sadly passed along the news on Monday.
“It’s with deepest sorrow that the Wissahickon Fire Company shares the passing of Life Active Member Joe Stagliano,” read the department’s post.
Stagliano had joined the force back in 1983. By 1989, he’d become the engineer for 760 (Station 7B). He was also the Wissahickon Fire Company’s first Safety Officer.
With so many roles in the department, it is amazing he also found time to enjoy the hobbies with his fellow firemen and women, not to mention his community, too.
“Also, you can’t forget Joe loved to coach the fire company softball team,” said the Company’s social media post. “During our fire prevention open house, you always could find Joe standing behind the grill cooking for all the visitors.”
The Company’s social media page also shared that Stagliano will be sorely missed for so very many reasons. The stations will be a bit darker this week, as the teams mourn the massive loss.
“He was the kind of guy who you could always depend on,” said the post. “[There was] no task too big or too small.”
The fire teams ask that all “please keep the Stagliano family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”
