A traffic stop in Ambler led police to a gun arrest, and one man will now face felony charges because of it.

Kevin Lucas, 42, of the 200 block of Bannockburn Avenue, in Ambler, was stopped by Ambler Borough Police Department on Sept. 28, 2024, at approximately 9:22 a.m., police said. The police conducted a vehicle stop at North Ridge Avenue at Race Street, according to reports.

During the stop, officers located a firearm inside the vehicle, police said. The operator of the vehicle, Lucas, was taken into custody and charged with firearms being carried without a license, a person not to possess-use-transfer a firearm, receiving stolen property, driving while having a suspended or revoked license, and driving an unregistered vehicle, stated the reports.

Lucas was taken before a District Magistrate who set bail at $25,000 unsecured and released on a bond signature. He will face his charges at a preliminary hearing on Oct. 11 at 10 a.m. before Magisterial District Judge Douglas H. Lavenberg.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
