The Montgomery County Commissioners will once again take their Board Meeting “on the road” to Montgomery Township. The meeting will take place on Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Montgomery Township Municipal Building located at 1001 Stump Rd in Montgomeryville, PA.

Before the meeting from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., representatives from the County’s Planning Commission, Voter Services and Community Connections will staff resource tables to connect attendees to voting information and County services. There will also be a flu and COVID-19 vaccination clinic available from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

“We’re keeping our promise to engage with the community with our meetings on the road, and this time we’re bringing some of our County colleagues on the road with us,” said Jamila Winder, chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners. “For those in the North Penn area who aren’t able to attend our regular meetings during the day in Norristown, we hope you can come out and participate. Here you will have an opportunity to submit public comment, get details about voting in the general election, access County services and benefits, and even get vaccinated. This is truly a one-stop-shop County Commissioner meeting.”

“We are looking forward to getting out to Montgomery Township to hear from residents there—especially those who may not be able to attend our regular weekday meetings in Norristown,” said Neil Makhija, vice chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners. “With the election fast approaching, this will be a great opportunity for residents to find answers to all of their election-related questions, and make their voices heard.”

“It is crucial that Montgomery County residents have the opportunity to interact with their County Commissioners in person, so I’m thrilled to take our next Board meeting on the road in Montgomery Township,” said Thomas DiBello, Montgomery County commissioner. “We had a tremendous turnout for our first on-the-road meeting earlier this year, and residents took advantage of the time outside working hours to share valuable insights about their communities.”

Attendees are encouraged to arrive early and bring their election questions to the Voter Services team on site, including questions regarding voter registration, mail-in ballot applications, ballot return procedures, and more. Also on site will be the Community Connections Navicate team, which helps residents and their loved ones find County services ranging from housing, food security, adult literacy, mental health and addiction services, affordable legal services, and much more.

The Montgomery County Planning Commission will also have interactive posters in the lobby of the township building from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. where residents can weigh in on issues related to the County’s future and talk to planners who are working on the new Comprehensive Plan: Montco 2050. There will be posters about transportation, housing, open space, trails, community connections and more. All residents are also encouraged to participate in future planning online via Engage Montco.

The County will provide an on-site flu and COVID-19 vaccine clinic from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., in partnership with Horsham pharmacy Eric’s RX Shoppe. Anyone interested in getting vaccinated at the October 10 meeting can make an appointment online. Walk-ins will also be accepted.

This is the second “on the road” Commissioner meeting this year. The first took place on the evening of May 23 in Limerick Township. The next Board of Commissioners meeting will be back at One Montgomery Plaza in Norristown as usual at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24.
