If you are looking for a local way to “spin” yourself into a healthier you, you’re going to be in luck very soon. Ambler residents are anxiously awaiting the grand opening of the Spin Shack, a new addition coming to the borough this fall.

In fact, excited exercise enthusiasts aren’t even waiting for the building to completely come together. Thankfully, Spin Shack’s owner, Marisa Ferguson can accommodate the needs in the future business location’s parking lot!

“Our opening day is schedule to be the second or third week of October,” said Ferguson. “We will be offering outdoor pop-up classes for free during the month of September.”

As the studio continues to be under construction, Ferguson has opted to use the Great Outdoors to get her classes started early.

Hosted in the parking lot near the Spin Shack’s planned studio at 812 N. Bethlehem Pike, Suite 201, in Lower Gwynedd Township/an Ambler mailing address (The Harth Building), September sessions will include:

  • Sunday, Sept. 8 at 8:30 a.m.
  • Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 6:15 a.m.
  • Monday, Sept. 16 at 5:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 5:30 p.m.

“We’re so excited to see everyone at our pop-ups in September,” said Ferguson. “We were able to stop by the studio last week and see all the fun construction happening.” Ferguson said guests to pop-ups only need to bring a mat and wear sneakers to participate.

Ferguson said that the building demo has wrapped up on the Spin Shack’s future home, with framing leading the team into drywall very soon.

“In just a month and a half, we will be in here, together, with that music blasting and that beautiful sunshine coming in!” said Ferguson of her new space.

In addition to parking lot pop-ups, a special pop-up event is slated for Sunday, Sept. 22 at 11 a.m. at Forest & Main. This class, for a cost of $25, will take place at the brewery’s hot spot: 241 N. Main St., in Ambler. Guests are asked to bring a mat and wear sneakers for the pop-up.

Ferguson said this session will feature “Tone,” and those that feel the burn that day will also get to have a crafted drink afterward!

“Our Tone class focuses on mat-based, low-impact sculpting segments, and moves that will strengthen and lengthen your body, while targeting all of your muscles,” she said.

Interested parties can register for the Forest & Main pop-up (only) by clicking here.

Come the studio’s soft launch, there will be a class schedule including:

  • Monday through Thursday: 5:15 a.m., 6:15 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 5:30 p.m., and 6:30 p.m.
  • Fridays: 5:15 a.m., 6:15 a.m., and 9:30 a.m.
  • Saturdays: (tentatively) 7:30 a.m. and 9 a.m.
  • Sundays: 8 and 9 a.m.

The Upper Dublin native is no stranger to the community. She attended area schools, including OLM [Our Lady of Mercy Regional Catholic School in Maple Glen], which at the time was called St. Alphonsus, as well as Upper Dublin High School and Temple Ambler campus.

“I now live in Ambler, and my children go to Wissahickon,” said Ferguson. “I am very local and absolutely love this community and town!”

The Spin Shack aims to add a bit of fitness to the local community.

“Spin Shack is a spin and full-body fitness studio that offers something for everyone,” said Ferguson. “We encourage you to challenge yourself with movement while connecting with your body and mind.”

To do so, Ferguson plans to offer a variety of five different “core classes,” including Spin, Cardio Sculpt, Sculpt, Tone, and Strength.

“Each class allows you to move to the beat of the music and delivers a full body workout while sweating it out with the best community,” said Ferguson.

Additional class descriptions can also be found on the Spin Shack website here.

Ferguson said that, in addition to being physically fit, such lessons help her to meet new faces all the time.

“Teaching classes has allowed me to connect with so many wonderful people at various points in their lives and be a part of their journey,” she said. “It has all led me to making a dream come true of opening up my own studio where movement and community will all come together in a fun experience with the loudest best beat drops.”

She added that, with the assortment of options, guests will have plenty of choices.

“The studio will have so many class options where clients can do more than just one, focused exercise, and have a great range to choose from,” said Ferguson.
