  • Things To Do

Whether you are into antique cars or historic aircraft, one event this weekend will surely require your attention. And, no matter how you get there, be sure that you do. The “Wings n’ Wheels” annual event is slated for Saturday, Sept. 7 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Wings Field.

This fundraising event is geared to benefit Angel Flight East (AFE), a local nonprofit that helps patients get to medical treatments with free air transportation. Serving the entire northeastern region of the United States, the organization connects pilots with patients, ensuring they are able to get to the care they need.

According to the AFE website, around 30% of all patients are children. The organization averages 216,000 miles flown per year, encompassing nearly 1,500 hours in the air each year.

From a small start-up in 1993, the EFE has grown to include 900 to 950 flights each year throughout the northeast region. Saturday’s event will help the nonprofit to continue to serve its many patients in need.

Held outdoors at Wings Field on Narcissa Road in Blue Bell, the Wings n’ Wheels celebration is open to families and those of all ages. Vintage cars and aircraft will be on display, as well as kids’ activities, a “Wing Off” competition, food trucks, and scenic flights for guests.

All funds raised will benefit AFE. For more information on the event, call 215-358-1900. Wings Field is located at 1501 Narcissa Road, in Blue Bell. Tickets can be purchased online at https://angelflighteast.org/news-events/wnw-tickets.html. Cost is just $10 per person for adults, while children are $5. You can even enter to win a free plane ride when purchasing your admissions tickets online.
