If you’re looking for some fun and excitement, you’re in the right place. If you live in and around the Wissahickon area, all the better! We have plenty of amazing offerings right in our own backyards. From weekends filled with family memory-making outings, to some weeknight unwinding, there is always plenty to explore in This Week Now. This week will span from Monday, Sept. 9 through Sunday, Sept. 13.

On Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 10:30 a.m., the Ambler location of the Wissahickon Valley Public Library will host “Babytime” with Miss Delia. A story time designed for those ages newborn to 24 months and their caregivers, all are invited to this sing-a-long, reading, and chance to “get those wiggles out” on Tuesday mornings. Registration is available at WVPL.org.

If you “dare” go out on Friday the 13th, Supertrain, a band known for its 90s and 2000s hits, will be playing at the Whitpain Tavern in Blue Bell on Friday, Sept. 13 at 9 p.m. The band is planning three unique sets for the night, celebrating Brian’s Birthday. The tavern is located at 1529 DeKalb Pike.

Grab your family for some unique fun at the Phoenix Arts on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 8:45 a.m. with Family Dance Jam. Tickets are available online here. Described as a “new workout class” that’s “gonna be awesome,” the four-week course costs $175 and includes the entire family. The sessions feature popular music to help the family get moving together. Geared to get the kids dancing with you, the class will offer nonstop movement. Phoenix Arts is located at 1680 Skippack Pike, in Blue Bell.

On Saturday, Sept. 14 at 6 p.m., a Beef and Beer will be held to support the Wissahickon’s Boys’ Lacrosse Team at the Mahoney Event Center, located at 15 Cavalier Drive in Ambler. The cost is $50, which includes music, trivia, food, soft drinks, and beer for those ages 21 and over only. Tickets can be purchased by Venmo to @WALAP by Sept. 12. Discounted tickets for any Wissahickon alumni, staff, and/or coaches is $35.

The Highlands Mansion and Garden in Fort Washington will host an Enchanted Garden Party on Sunday, Sept. 15 from 1 to 4 p.m. The cost is $20 per child and $5 per adult. The day will feature fairies, pirates, and mermaids during this sixth annual fantasy children’s festival, which this year will also feature an enchanting fashion show. Tickets are available online here. The site is located at 7001 Sheaff Lane.
