The Wissahickon area is home to many amazing activities. You don’t have to travel far to find entertainment right in your own backyard. Wissahickon Now brings you a new This Week Now edition to help you find some fun in our own communities. Check out some of the offerings coming up Sept. 16 to 22, 2024.

The Ambler YMCA will host a Lunch & Learn in its multipurpose room designed for seniors 65 and over to learn about Healthy Aging on Wednesday, Sept. 18 from 2 to 3 p.m. Those registering should be 64 or over. Light refreshments will be served. For more information, call 215-628-9950. Registration can be made online here.

If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to line dance, now’s your chance. Whitpain Tavern, located at 1529 DeKalb Pike, in Blue Bell, offers line dancing on the first and third Wednesdays, with its next event slated for Wednesday, Sept. 18 from 7 to 10 p.m. Cost is just a $10 cover, and all ages are welcome to attend. Beginner lessons and open dancing will both be available. Tickets are available ahead of time online here.

The conclusion of the Beer & BBQ Summer Series 2024 at Normandy Farm will be held with Crab Fest on Thursday, Sept. 19 from 6 to 9 p.m. Described as a time to let “etiquette take a backseat to pure enjoyment,” guests are invited to indulge in the all-you-can-eat and -drink festival which features Maryland hardshell crabs, a smokehouse menu from the grills, and bottomless craft beer and house wines. On Saturday, Sept. 21 from noon to 5 p.m., Lower Gwynedd Township will host Fall Fest on the Wissahickon High School grounds, 521 Houston Road in Ambler. With food trucks, local vendors, informational booths from local businesses, artisans, and nonprofit groups, as well as home-based business products, there is a little bit of something for everyone. Ambler Cars & Coffee, a group that labels itself as “a group of loveable misfits with a passion for cars and a desire to bring people close together,” will host an event on Sunday, Sept. 22 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Temple Ambler Campus, 1436 E. Butler Pike, in Ambler. Tickets are available here online. Those wishing to feature a vehicle will need a Spotlight Registration, which includes a reserved parking space at the front-and-center of the event, as well as a photoset from the event’s photographer for just $25. Vendors may sign-up for spaces ranging from $100 to $300 online.
