You never have to go far for fun when you live in the Wissahickon area. There are always entertaining events right in our own backyard. No matter your interests, from live music to family functions, there are plenty of options to enjoy without leaving your community. Let’s take a look at the hip happenings in Wissahickon Now’s This Week Now from Monday, Sept. 23 to Sunday, Sept. 29.

On Wednesday, Sept. 25, from 6 to 10 p.m., the Bucks County Foundation for Aging will host its Fashion Show at the William Penn Inn in Gwynedd. A fashion show presented by Joli Beautique of Doylestown. Dinner and models showing off the latest fashions will be featured at this fundraising event. The Kiwanis Club of Ambler, Pa. will host a Community Carnival from Thursday, Sept. 26 through Sunday, Sept. 29 at the Temple Ambler Campus from 6 to 10 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday. The nonprofit organization aims to improve the lives of children, families, and the greater community, and its annual carnival is a fundraising event for its operations. Rides, a beer garden, food, and music will be available.

The busy Whitpain Township weekend of excitement kicks off on Friday, Sept. 27 with a “Big Rig Roundup” event from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Montgomery County Community College, in the Morris Road Lot in Blue Bell. A minimal noise hour will be held from 5:30 to 6:30, during which no horns or sirens will be played to allow for an inclusive environment and ensure children are comfortable in the atmosphere. Transnet is the night’s sponsor, and Philly Waffle Cabin will be available at the event for concession purchases. The event is free and open to all ages. On Saturday, Sept. 28, the fun continues in Whitpain, with the township’s Community Festival. From noon to 9 p.m., the fun will feature games, shopping, live music, and food, not to mention fireworks around 8:15 p.m. all on the campus of Montgomery County Community College, 340 DeKalb Pike in Blue Bell. The entry is free, and all ages are welcome. Musical performances will be held in the Morris Road parking lot, and guests are asked to bring lawn chairs, as there is not grass in the area. Noon to 4 p.m. will feature vendors, a health expo, pumpkin patch, petting zoo, pony rides, hay rides, games, a rock wall, and food trucks. The Beer Garden for those 21 and over will run 2 to 8 p.m., while the Fort Washington School of Rock will be featured from 2:30 to 3:15 p.m. Montco’s student band will play from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m., while Yer So Dad will be on stage 5 to 6 p.m. Love Seed Mama Jump is slated for 7 to 8 p.m. There is no rain date for the event, but the festival may be canceled in the event of inclement weather.

Tresini Bar and Cucina, located at 504 N. Bethlehem Pike in Ambler, will host an “End of Summer Pasta Pinata” on Sunday, Sept. 29 from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Brad Daniels and his team will present a five-course pasta diner that is themed around local farms and vendors. A welcome reception will start at 5 p.m. with cocktails and light bites, followed by a family-style dinner service at 6 p.m. with ingredients from KaraJo Bee Farm, Erdenhiem Farms, Everwild Farms, Green Meadow Farms, and Freedom Farms.
