Barry Sussman, 79, of the 1800 block of Carmel Place in Maple Glen, was arrested Thursday, April 3, after allegedly sending an image depicting child sexual abuse to a business in Abington instead of a requested medical document, according to police.

According to court documents, the incident happened on March 19, 2025. Sussmann has been charged with possession of child sexual abuse materials, criminal use of a communication facility and other offenses.

During an investigation, court documents say police found more than 100 additional images of child sexual abuse materials on his home computer during a search, including the same image that was allegedly sent to the Abington medical business. Police also confiscated DVDs that allegedly contained sexually explicit images of children.

Sussman was a former coach in the Cheltenham School District, according to an online profile.

He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Levine, according to a press release. He has been released after paying 10% of $100,000 bail, officials said.

Officials are still conducting an investigation into this case.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
