As we near the end of the current school year and look ahead to the 2025-2026 school year, the Wissahickon School District has informed its elementary families of an important update to the elementary school schedule.
Beginning with the 2025-26 school year, arrival and dismissal times for all elementary schools will be adjusted. This change is part of a district-wide effort to improve safety, enhance efficiency, and ensure a more consistent student experience during the start and end of each school day, according to the school district.
Effective for the 2025-2026 school year, the student day at all Wissahickon elementary schools will be as follows:
Schools that will be effected include: Blue Bell Elementary School, Lower Gwynedd Elementary School, Shady Grove Elementary School, and Stony Creek Elementary School.
Currently, these elementary schools in the district have their doors open between 8:30 a.m. and 8:35 a.m. and students are dismissed between 3:10 p.m. to 3:15 p.m., depending on the school.
These updates are designed to better align with actual bus departure times and provide appropriate staff supervision during critical transition periods. By refining our daily schedule, we can help ensure a smoother and more secure environment for students, families, and staff.
"We recognize that changes to school schedules may require families to adjust routines, and we appreciate your flexibility and support as we implement these improvements," the school district said. "Please know that our goal is to make this transition as smooth as possible for everyone involved, and we are committed to communicating clearly and providing assistance where needed."
