The mission of the Mattie N. Dixon Community Cupboard is "neighbors helping neighbors."
The organization, located at 150 N Main Street, Ambler, accomplishes this by providing essential services to individuals and families whose incomes fall within 150% of the federal poverty guidelines.
Services include a food pantry offering fresh produce, dairy, meats, and baked goods; a clothing boutique; annual holiday programs; a back-to-school backpack program; and emergency financial assistance when available.
Another way it gives back is through community events like the "Fill a Cop Car" initiative, which featured the Lower Gwynedd Police Department Community Response Unit coming out to the GIANT Food Store located at 1121 N Bethlehem Pike in Spring House.
The event took place on April 12 and it was used to collect items for Easter. The Easter Bunny also made a special guest appearance.
"We would like to sincerely thank the staff of the Spring House GIANT and all the community members who generously donated food during our 'Fill a Cop Car' event in support of the Mattie N. Dixon Community Cupboard," the Lower Gwynedd Police Department said. "Your kindness and contributions will go a long way in helping local families in need. We are truly grateful for your continued support and commitment to making a difference."
The Cupboard regularly accepts donations of food, clothing, toiletries, and household items on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. They also accept monetary donations, securities, and cryptocurrency, and offer options for organizing food drives or fundraisers.
