Some of the world's best golfers will be in the area next month.

From May 5 to May 11, the PGA Tour is coming to the Philadelphia Cricket Club to host the Truist Championship. Masters champion Rory McIlroy is expected to compete in the tournament, which is being played on the Club's Wissahickon course in Flourtown.

Up to 10,000 spectators are expected to attend the tournament, and local municipalities are taking extra precautions in preparations for the event.

Township officials have stated that the only road closure will be West Valley Green Road from Cricket Road to Hunt Lane from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day of the event. Residents will continue to have access to their properties.

If you live near Philadelphia Cricket Club and have your trash collected on Fridays, please note that collection will begin on 6 a.m. on May 9. Trash trucks will attempt to be out of the area by 7 a.m. to help avoid congestion. This is a one-time only schedule change.

This marks the first time the tournament, formerly known as the Wells Fargo Championship, will be held in the Philadelphia area. The event is one of eight Signature Events on the PGA Tour calendar, featuring the top players competing for a $20 million purse and 700 FedExCup points for the winner.

The tournament has launched the "Growing the Game Grant Program" in partnership with PGA TOUR Superstore to provide golf equipment to local nonprofits, enhancing access to the sport for underserved communities. The event is projected to generate an economic impact of $40 million to $60 million for the region.
