Shaun Haleem Williams, 31, of Philadelphia, will serve 11.5 to 23 months in jail for firing a handgun at another driver along Route 309 in Upper Dublin Township, The Mercury reported.

Williams, who resides on the 6800 block of Clearview Street, will be under supervision for three years following his prison sentence for the road rage incident that took place in April 2024.

Judge Risa Vetri Ferman said Williams is eligible for the jail’s work release program during the first three months of the sentence and then house arrest for the remaining minimum 8.5-month jail term.

Williams, who was taken into custody to begin his sentence, could be released to house arrest within days or weeks once jail officials verify his employment and approve his application for work release.

Police responded to a call on April 5, 2024, around 9:30 a.m. of a reported shooting along southbound Route 309 near the I-276 Turnpike exit ramp. The victim told police he was being “tailgated” by another car, who pulled up alongside the victim and “brandished a black in color semiautomatic pistol out of the driver’s window and pointed it at the victim,” according to police.

After the shooting, Williams accelerated away and the victim then followed in an attempt to obtain a license plate number, including recording a cellphone video, but could not keep up with the speed of Williams’ vehicle and lost sight of the vehicle as it traveled toward the Philadelphia border.

The victim reported to police he then pulled into the parking lot just off Route 309 in Cheltenham Township after the shooting to wait for police to arrive, according to a criminal complaint filed by state police Trooper Eugene Tray.

Police observed a single bullet hole in the passenger side of the victim’s Ford F-150 pickup truck.

“The projectile could not be located within the truck,” Tray alleged. “The victim advised troopers that he was not struck by the gunfire.”

“Once the victim observed the firearm and now fearing for his life, he accelerated rapidly to avoid being shot,” according to police.

Investigators were able to use automated license plate to eventually identify Williams, and apprehended him later that day around 5 p.m. during a traffic stop.
