Heavy police presence in Ambler Saturday night after reported shooting involving suicidal man armed with knives, police say

A massive police presence is active in Ambler Borough Saturday night, as authorities have cordoned off a crime scene on the 100 block of Forest Avenue near School Street due to a report of a shooting involving a man with two knives.

According to Montgomery County emergency dispatch, a call came in at 7:40 p.m. for a man who told police he wanted to die and had knives in his hand. The individual refused to drop the weapons, per dispatch reports.

At least one unidentified person was transported to Abington Memorial Hospital with unspecified injuries. It is unclear Saturday night if the suspect was killed or if he was the individual transported to the hospital.

The entire area is locked down and being overseen by police from Upper Dublin, Lower Gwynedd Township and Ambler Borough.
